I imagine that a lot of what I’ll read about here Is SCUBA or fishing-related but the food was surprisingly good in Placencia. And, I’m not a fish-eater.

I have had great food experiences every time I’ve been to Placencia. I must say, though, that Coppola’s Turtle Inn was pretty outstanding…no wonder it’s a Hollywood hang-out. Getting the bill isn’t for the faint-of-heart but I found the experience pretty fabulous and the scenery is spectacular – right out of Architectural Digest or Luxury Living Magazine.

The people I’ve gone with have been a little frustrated by the challenges of getting to The Sunset Bar but, by my account this place embodies everything a Caribbean beach bar is supposed to be; great spot (on a small island), great tunes, unbelievable sunsets and laid-back, almost to a fault. Loved it – I’ll go every time I’m there. When I move to Placencia that place will be my “Cheers”.

It took me a little work to find – I’m not one to stop and ask for directions – The Pickled Parrot was a great place to kick-off the evening and if it’s book-end bars I’d recommend ending the evening at the Barefoot Beach Bar at the Tipsy Tuna: outside, sandy, good drinks, cool t-shirts, fun crowd.

Rumfish was a great place to hang out or to just stop in – either before or after or for dinner. Really nice people, real easy décor, huge drink selection, etc. I agree and it sounds like it’s their nature, but John and Pam help make the experience better.

The first time down there I was very surprised to find good food but the ones you point out are on my list for my trip in September. I’ll try to come up with some additions. I thought I heard that a new casino was going in about 20 minutes up Placencia Road. Is that true? If so that would be very cool for nightlife. I don’t want one next door but a casino just a short drive away would be ideal, to me. One more fun thing to do.

I’ll chime back in with new places to check-out when I get back from my next trip to Belize. I just got certified (SCUBA) and cannot wait to get back to Bz with all my gear.
